Let them eat cake! KL’s bridal shower tea held at the Sarasota Yacht Club was a picture perfect afternoon! The closest of friends and family gathered to celebrate her upcoming wedding by dressing up and spending a carefree and decadent afternoon sipping champagne and eating cake!
Beyond the traditional Caesar, Cobb, and Wedge, The Art of Salad (A Arte da Salada) features over 70 delicious salads that you can easily make for your family and friends. These salads aren’t just green, they are full of color, texture, detail and flavor.
This couple tied the knot in a 19th century revivalist style private palace in the centre of Lisbon. It’s in a quiet, distinguished neighbourhood in Lisbon, a beautiful spot, with spectacular views across the valley. Designed by an Italian architect, the palace was renovated a few years ago and now serves as an idyllic, cosy setting for intimate weddings and celebrations.
From London to Lisbon, this vibrant young couple’s wedding was picture perfect. Their ceremony was held in the private chapel at the Ritz Carlton’s Penha Longa monastery in the Sintra hills, followed by black tie reception in the resort. About 200 international guests flew in to celebrate as best friends Chris and Leah became husband and wife.
Persian weddings are so beautiful, the level of detail is astounding. I was mesmerised by the Aghd - so many colors, textures and scents to take in. Endless bowls filled with herbs, pastries, breads, nuts, fruit, coins, candles and more, it was a spectacular scene.
From Lebanon to London to Lisbon, this international couple’s friends and families celebrated together on a gorgeous summer day in Lisbon at one of Portugal’s most well kept secrets, Palacio dos Marqueses da Fronteira. Nancy and Daniel’s wedding was set in an Italian-inspired formal garden, surrounded by the iconic blue and white azulejos representing various arts and mythological figures. I didn’t know this but apparently the garden hedges are cut in such a way that they represent the four seasons. How cool is that! A true fairytale location, just on the edge of Lisbon.
From the moment I met Caitlyn and Ivan I knew they were going to be the coolest of couples - it was such a pleasure to work with them to transform their vision into a truly unique, show-stopper of a cake. They chose one of my favourite flavour combinations, alternating layers of raspberry champagne cake and vanilla cake with raspberry jam and white chocolate swiss meringue buttercream.
I love winter weddings in Florida. And this gorgeous wedding coordinated by Brittany Eagans at the Ringling Museum of Art did not disappoint! Deep, dramatic tones of navy, burgundy and gold were incorporated throughout every last detail of this February wedding.
Royal Icing starts out as pure white, and when it dries, it becomes hard and opaque. You can achieve beautiful colors by adding gel color (I like Sugarflair and Wilton). Royal icing can be piped using a pastry bag and variety of tips to create flowers, scrolls and letters, among other decorative items.
It’s really important to create internal structure for a tiered cake so that it doesn’t cave in, tip over, slide or create any other potentially disastrous situation. Even if you are planning on mounting your cake on site, I recommend you dowel the tiers in advance to create stability once assembled.
As a cake designer, there is nothing more inspiring than working a couple who are obsessed with their wedding cake. And in this case, the couple didn’t disappoint! They wanted a tall cake, the taller the better. Sugar flowers were an absolute must. A custom lace pattern, and a hand piped monogram to make the cake really unique. The rest was left to me.
Speechless… how else can I describe what I felt as I set up this wedding cake, surrounded by such an exquisite setting! Maria Brady of Choreographed Events had done it again, she had taken my breath away…
If you didn’t catch my segment last week on ABC7’s Suncoast View, here’s the clip! Boozy pies are the craze right now, especially as everyone gets ready to plan their Thanksgiving Day feast menus.
Every cake tells a story. And this one’s mine. I have always had a passion for flowers and fashion. This cake started as an idea in my head because of the flowers in my garden. Spring was in full bloom, and the colours outside my window were so vivid.
Some people just radiate an overpowering JOY - they captivate you with their mesmerising smile and win over your heart within seconds of meeting them. And when I get to work with people like this, it just makes my job that much more amazing!

There’s just so much to love about Portugal, don’t you think? After 18 months of planning and endless hours of work, every little detail handmade in sugar, made with lots of love, for a super special couple. Thank you for choosing me, and for trusting me to create such an incredible cake. I love Portugal, and I’m so glad you saw the beauty that I have been surrounded by for the past 20 years. O meu coração pertence a Lisboa!
After meeting this couple for the first time, all I could think about was how to make this cake sparkle with a ray of sunshine as beautiful and bright as the bride. With so much charisma, a heart-melting smile and a love for everything gold and glittery, I was super excited to start work on designing this cake.
I have been meaning to start this blog for a long time now. To tell my story, and to share the story behind each cake. Every couple I meet, every cake I make is an inspiration for me. I love what I do, and hopefully it comes across it in every piece of edible art that I create. For me, every cake has a story, and with the little time I have to sit down and put it into words, I will try my best to share a bit of each story with you!
